Bilbao, an industrial port city in northern Spain, is surrounded by green mountains. It’s the de facto capital of Basque Country, with a skyscraper-filled downtown. It’s famed for the Frank Gehry–designed Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which sparked revitalization when it opened in 1997. The museum houses prominent modern and contemporary works, but it’s the curvy, titanium-clad building that receives the most attention.

The Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall, is located in the city of Bilbao, in the Basque Country, beside the Estuary of Bilbao, built in part of the area that was formerly occupied by the Euskalduna shipyards.  Just a few minutes from Bilbao’s International airport and with excellent connections via road, rail and sea.

Here is a direct link providing extensive travel information to the Euskalduna Jauregia, the venue for euspen’s 19th international conference and exhibition (https://www.euskalduna.eus/en/euskalduna-conference-centre/how-to-get-here/)

To help you visualise the conference centre and the exhibition areas, here are a few images.  The plenary (Barria) and exhibition area are within close proximity of each other and the plenary can be recognised by the green chairs.  The exhibition area is surrounded by glass which will provide our exhibition area with plenty of natural daylight and hopefully sunshine for when we are there in June 2019.

Here is a link for a virtual tour to see the venue (please note we are in Exhibition Hall II). Scroll down the page until you find VIRTUAL TOUR https://www.euskalduna.eus/en/euskalduna-conference-centre/the-building/

Welcome Reception

On Monday 3rd June from 19:00-21:00, there will be a Welcome Reception which is open to all our conference delegates.  The venue selected for this pre-conference, informal evening is the San Mamés Football Stadium.

San Mames stadium is located in Bilbao and is where Athletic Club plays its matches. It is a team with a unique philosophy and over 110 years of history.

The San Mames football ground is a benchmark worldwide, both for its architecture (considered the best sports building in the world) and the facilities available.  Listed by UEFA as Category 4, the San Mames stadium is a major milestone in the construction of large sporting facilities in the world, one of the benchmarks nationally and internationally.

It is one of the most modern architectural spaces in Bilbao, along with the Guggenheim Museum and the Iberdrola Tower, among others.  The stadium is the home of Athletic Bilbao, known as Los Leones de San Mamés-Bilboko lehoiak. They are known as Los Leones because their stadium was built near a church called San Mamés

We invite our delegates to join us at for drinks and a buffet with an opportunity to catch-up with old and new friends in this high profile venue.

Networking Dinner

On Wednesday 5th June from 18:00-22:00, there will be our Networking Dinner for delegates.  This 15th century farmhouse is selected for this enjoyable evening is the traditional OLAGORTA restaurant.

In 1960, the painter Antonio Echevarri decided to restore the ruins of a 15th century farmhouse. His intention was to create a paradise that would serve as inspiration and not leave indifferent to those who knew him. For years, there were many personalities who praised the beauty and peace that that Basque corner transmitted. Today, the next generation has been able to adapt the farmhouse to the needs of customers without losing sight of its origins and respecting the environment for which it was designed.

OLAGORTA is the venue where we shall celebrate the evening in the most exclusive and traditional manner. With large gardens comprising of fig, walnut and  lemon trees , OLAGORTA is in a unique environment conducive to an evening of networking, food and friendships.
