The origins of Technische Universität Berlin and its earlier forms trace back to the era of Frederick the Great. These include key educational institutions of the Prussian State, such as the Königliche Bergakademie zu Berlin (Royal Mining Academy), founded in 1770; the Königliche Bauakademie zu Berlin (Royal Building Academy), established in 1799; and the Königliche Gewerbeakademie zu Berlin (Royal Trade Academy), which opened in 1821. In 1879, the Königlich Technische Hochschule zu Berlin (Royal Technical Academy) was created through the merger of the Royal Trade and Building Academies, and in 1916, the Royal Mining Academy became part of the Royal Technical Academy. The architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, whose designs continue to grace Berlin’s cityscape, stands out as one of the most notable figures associated with the University’s predecessor institutions.

Networking Dinner
On Tuesday 7th October there will be a networking dinner for our delegates which will be held at the Osteria Trofeo, Berlin.
Prior to the Dinner at Osteria Trofeo, we have arranged a guided tour through the Classic Remise. This tour will last 45 minutes and then we will walk through to Osteria Trofeo, where we will be seated for dinner at 18:00pm.
The Classic Remise Berlin, a vintage car center, opened in 2003 within a historic tram depot that dates back to imperial times, with construction beginning in 1899. The building underwent some architectural modifications in the 1920s. Although there was minimal damage during the war, the remnants of firebomb impacts on the ceiling remain visible. After the tram system in West Berlin was decommissioned in the 1960s, the depot fell into disuse and decay. It wasn’t until 2002 that the current owners acquired the building and began its transformation into a classic car center.
