Geneva is the capital of the Swiss Canton of Geneva located in the south-westernmost corner of Switzerland. The city is situated along the banks of Europe’s largest lake, Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), at the mouth of the Rhone River and is bordered by the Jura Mountains to the west and the French Alps in the east.

Geneva is the second-most populous city in Switzerland (after Zürich) and the most populous city of Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Geneva is a global city, a financial centre, and a worldwide centre for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross. Geneva hosts the highest number of international organizations in the world.

Welcome Reception

On Monday 30th May from 18:00 – 20:00 there will be a Welcome Reception which is open to all our conference delegates.  The venue selected for this pre-conference, informal evening is The Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN.

The Globe of Science and Innovation is an emblem for CERN serving science and innovation. 27 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, it’s about the size of the dome of Saint Peter’s in Rome! A unique visual landmark by day and by night, the Globe of Science and Innovation is a symbol of Plant Earth. It is CERN’s outreach tool for its work in the fields of science, particle physics, leading edge technologies and their applications in everyday life.

We invite our delegates to join us with an opportunity to catch-up with old and new friends in this high profile venue.
