Tour 1: Centre for Precision Manufacturing

Location: Faculty of Engineering, James Weir building, 75 Montrose Street, Glasgow, G1 1XJ

The Centre for Precision Manufacturing research and develop materials, processes, tools, machinery and numerical modelling techniques for improving economic and technical performance of materials and manufacturing processes with advanced precision, micro- and nano-manufacturing techniques.

The tour will offer you the opportunity to find out more about the work being carried at a leading advanced precision manufacturing research centre with tours of the following laboratories:

  •  Ultra precision machining
  •  Microforming

 Tour 2: Technology & Innovation Centre (Institute for Environment & Energy)

Location: Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC), 99 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1RD

Date: Thursday 10th October
Time: 09:00 – 10:00

The Institute for Environment and Energy is one of Europe’s leading and largest power systems and energy technology university research groups. Over 200 staff and researchers engage in a diverse range of collaborative, multidisciplinary research programmes, addressing issues such as the creation of sustainable energy systems, to the development of condition monitoring technologies and asset investment planning for major electricity companies.

The tour will guide you through and provide insight into the work being carried in the following laboratories:

  • Superconducting and energy storage
  • Composite (aircraft simulator)

 

Please note: If you would like to attend this tour please congregate outside the Technology & Innovation Centre at 09:00 prompt where you will be met to be taken on the guided tour of the laboratories.
