POSTDOCTORAL POSITION ON DIMENSIONAL METROLOGY | KU Leuven
The Manufacturing Metrology research group of KU Leuven Department of Mechanical Engineering investigates, develops, optimizes and implements measurement solutions for manufacturing quality control. Our expertise covers surface and 3D coordinate metrology using tactile and optical probes as well as X-ray Computed Tomography (CT). We target Industry 4.0 readiness of measurement solutions by increasing speed, reducing measurement errors, and establishing traceability, to realize in-line and in-process capabilities that intelligently feed back inspection results for of first-time-right and zero-waste manufacturing. We put our expertise and state-of-the-art equipment at the disposal of manufacturing companies to address complex metrology challenges and to improve manufacturing process understanding and performance.
Responsibilities
To strengthen the Manufacturing Metrology research group we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher. He/she is expected to contribute to the further development of the group through his/her expertise in dimensional metrology (optical, tactile or X-ray CT based metrology). She/he will be involved in one or more projects related to:
- In-process metrology
- Increasing accuracy, precision and robustness of dimensional metrology technologies
- Increasing Industry 4.0 readiness of metrology solutions
The postdoctoral researcher will moreover have the opportunity to:
- disseminate his/her results in scientific papers and at conferences
- contribute to the initiation and management of projects in the field
- guide PhD and/or master students
- collaborate with the group’s extensive industrial and scientific network
Profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and independent postdoctoral researcher with:
- a PhD in a relevant domain
- profound expertise in dimensional metrology
- good communication skills (oral and written)
- open character
