lectures facilities

 Facilities and ....

Two facilities are provided to allow students to get the most from the lectures:

Facility 1: The "Lecture Notepad" allows students to store textual notes specific to a lecture. Notes can be made at any time, including while a lecture is being viewed. During a lecture, the user can type a note into a field on the lecture page. When the "Add to Notepad" button is pressed, the note is appended to the notepad without interrupting the flow of the lecture.

Facility 2: Students may also contact the lecturers for their course using the Contact Area. The contact area is a private forum between the two, and in addition to textual notes, pictures, files and notepad information can be exchanged.

 ..... lectures playback

This page describes how the lectures are displayed in your browser. It is important to know how to control the playback in order to get the most from the lectures. There are also some notes on general use of the web site .

Lectures play back in a window like this:

The buttons down the right hand side have these functions:

Play/Resume playback

Pause playback

Go back to the start of the current slide

Go back to the previous slide

Go to the next slide

Jump to any another slide

When you see the rotating cogs appear in the bottom left hand corner of the frame, then data is being transferred to your computer. You do not have to wait for the cogs to disappear before starting playback.

The playhead is the red triangle on the bottom right-hand edge of the frame. By dragging the playhead with your mouse pointer, you can rewind the audio playback without going all the way to the beginning of the slide.

Full-screen playback

There are two ways to maximise the viewing area for the lecture, which will make it easier to read:

1. Press the button labelled "Hide Above Information" - this will hide the introductory text at the top of the page (a "Show Lecture Information" button will appear so you can get it back).

2.Use your browsers full screen mode (the F11 key on Internet Explorer 4, 5, 6 and Mozilla 1).

Problems?

If you have any problems playing lectures please check the following:

1. Close any other programs using your internet connection, such as email or instant messaging software. This will help to ensure that playback is not interrupted.

2. Refresh the page.

3. Make sure you have the latest version of the Flash player, which should be automatically downloaded if you visit www.macromedia.com.

4. If you have encountered a problem and been advised by us that it has been fixed, empty your browser cache before trying again - flash files can get 'stuck' in the cache.

5. If you still cannot play the lecture, please contact support@visiononline.tv. Please state which lecture you had the problem with, the exact nature of the problem, any error messages you saw and your browser name and version.
