Precision Engineering is the international journal of the three societies: ASPE (American Society for Precision Engineering), euspen (European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology) and JSPE (Japanese Society for Precision Engineering).
Focus
Devoted to the multidisciplinary study and practice of high accuracy engineering, metrology, and manufacturing. The journal takes an integrated approach to all subjects related to research, design, manufacture, performance validation, and application of high precision machines, instruments, and components, including fundamental and applied research and development in manufacturing processes, fabrication technology, and advanced measurement science. The scope includes precision-engineered systems and supporting metrology over the full range of length scales, from atom-based nanotechnology and advanced lithographic technology to large-scale systems, including optical and radio telescopes and macrometrology.
Publication
50+ english language, original articles in each yearly volume of four issues, almost all being unsolicited research papers or technical notes. All are fully refereed to high standards. Elsevier publish Precision Engineering on behalf of the Societies, so providing high-quality print distribution and full integration into the ContentsDirect and ScienceDirect internet services.
Technical Quality
Bibliometric measures such as citation indices place Precision Engineering in the top few international journals for its topic coverage. This emphasizes its academic and research impact, while high numbers of web downloads of individual articles confirm the Societies' aims of supporting and inspiring commercially based practioners.
