Engineered or structured surfaces, including periodic, tessellated and freeform structures.
Design, modelling and simulation of surfaces.
Manufacturing methods, including traditional grinding and finishing, micromachining, drum manufacturing, diamond cutting etc.
Applications of structured surfaces, for example, advanced lighting, solar cells, safety clothing.

group meetings:

A preliminary meeting was held at the 10th International euspen Conference in Zurich, Switzerland in May 2008.
The first technical meeting was held at Apex City Hotel, Edinburgh, UK on the 24th and 25th February 2009. Presentations are available to view for euspen members at >>>.
The second technical meeting of the Structured and Freeform Surfaces was held at Fraunhofer IPT, Aachen, Germany on the 10th and 11th February 2010. Presentations are available to view for euspen members at >>>.
7-8 March 2011 a joint topical meeting was held at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, US with the American Society for Precision Engineering >>>
The fourther meeting of this group will be held at the National Physical Laboratory, UK, Dec 2012. Details to follow Jan 2012.
