- Engineered or structured surfaces, including periodic, tessellated and freeform structures.
- Design, modelling and simulation of surfaces.
- Manufacturing methods, including traditional grinding and finishing, micromachining, drum manufacturing, diamond cutting etc.
- Applications of structured surfaces, for example, advanced lighting, solar cells, safety clothing.

A preliminary meeting was held at the 10th International euspen Conference in Zurich, Switzerland in May 2008.
